Dear Reader,
You are cordially invited to peruse the next instalment of our Sustainable Swaps series.
The wedding invitation game has reached new heights in recent years. From the intricately laser cut to the printed acrylic, there are so many possibilities.
Unfortunately many of these options come with a high price tag, both financally and environmentally. It’s also sad but true that many of these invitations will be discarded soon after the wedding so let’s evaluate our options – the good news is there are lots!
SUSTAINABLE SWAPS
1. Sustainable Practices
If a tangible invitation is important to you, consider approaching a local company that employs eco-conscious practices such as using recycled paper and non-toxic vegetable inks. This way our all important trees are saved and there are no nasty chemicals leaching into the ground.
2. Fewer Inserts
Wedding invitations are designed to convey a lot of information to your guests, however, instead of enclosing multiple inserts with minimal text, try combining all the essential details onto just one card. Don’t forget, you can utilise the reverse of the invitation too.
If you’re struggling to fit everything onto one card, why not include a web link directing guests to your online wedmin account. Here they can find all the information they’ll need for your big day. You could even add an RSVP function, if you’re feeling fancy!
3. Let it Grow
Seed paper. This blooming beautiful option just keeps on giving.
There are so many UK based stationers that have adopted this alternative to standard paper, and we’re totally here for it! Rather than simply recycling or throwing the invitation away, guests can plant theirs in their garden and let it grow, supporting our bee, butterfly and insect populations.
4. Evites
If you’d like to do away with physical invitations all together, then an Evite is the one for you. There are oodles of beautiful templates to choose from, or you could even ask a professional to create a bespoke design for you.
You can manage your guest list and RSVPs online and save yourself and your guests some stamps!
4. Mix it Up
Perhaps you, and your nearest and dearest would like physical invitations as keepsakes but you’d like everyone else to receive Evites.
Well we say, why not!
This option gives you the best of both worlds, you’ll be saving money, reducing your carbon footprint and you’ll have your very own invitation to treasure.
Remember, sustainability is not about being perfect, it’s about making better choices. Even the smallest changes help.
Best Wishes, Warmest Regards
